Her primary areas of research are early Christian spirituality and historiography. She chairs the Patristic\/Medieval History section for the Evangelical Theological Society and serves as general editor for the \u003ci\u003eCSB Women's Study Bible\u003c\/i\u003e. Prior to coming to Beeson Divinity School, Laing taught courses in Christian spirituality, history, and doctrine at Houston Graduate School of Theology and Houston Christian University.
