Isaiah 1 -39, by Marvin A. Fundamentally exegetical, the FOTL volumes examine the structure, genre, setting, and intention of the biblical literature in question. They also study the history behind the form-critical discussion of the material, attempt to bring consistency to the terminology for the genres and formulas of the biblical literature, and expose the exegetical procedure so as to enable students and pastors to engage in their own anlysis and interpretation of the Old Testament texts.

Author Biography

Marvin A. Sweeney is Professor of Hebrew Bible at the Claremont School of Theology, where he teaches in the areas of Hebrew Bible studies and the history of Judaism and Jewish thought. He is a specialist in Jewish biblical theology, prophetic literature, narrative literature, and Jewish mysticism and visionary texts.
