by Harold Metzel (Author)
Economic developments throughout the entire world have created a stress-producing engine which has given birth to near panic, even for Christians. When we add to that the "normal" stress we face in all other areas of life, we can feel crushed. Healthy stress, a response to warn and help us in times of danger, can turn into a tyrant or bully when it gets out of control. In this book, the author lays out the steps needed to dethrone the stress bully. When put in its place, believers can then think with a clearer head about what God has said and will make better decisions to walk through whatever life brings. The greatest tool God has given to those who trust Him is faith. Examples are given to illustrate how much faith you actually have and prove that your faith, along with sufficient courage to act on that faith, already reside within you. Finally, the book sketches out God's overall plan for the world and for each believer. The role God will play in our everyday lives, and the role He expects us to play are clearly defined. With a combination of this understanding and these tools, the believer can push aside unhealthy stress and learn to walk through life as a Stress-Free Believer.
Author Biography
After twenty-five years of ministry, including that of pastor, missionary, and then president of a Bible College, Harold Metzel faced the need to develop meaningful support for the college. That led him into the field of finance, tax avoidance, and estate planning. The combination of those two vocations produced a blend of both pastoral and financial perspective. Upon retiring from employment, and for the past eight years, he has conducted seminars in local churches. The two days following every seminar, he provided one-on-one appointments to discuss individual financial situations. In those meetings, he discovered a zone of major concern which spread far beyond the area of finance. Although some people wanted to learn more about financial strategies, many were looking for an escape route-a way out. Helping people to look past the stress and at the problem from God's point of view gave birth to this book. A winner of many Toastmaster awards, Harold has spoken across the country at national conferences and in hundreds of churches, ranging in size from very small to over 8,000. Harold is also past president of Old Mission Rotary in San Diego and has served on numerous boards; including, the San Diego Blood Bank, the American Association of Individual Investors, and the National University Alumni Association. Certified as a Fund Raising Executive in 1988 (CFRE), he has been a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), and the National Committee on Planned Giving (NCPG).
