What helped spark the spiritual wildfire known as the First Great Awakening? Beyond cultural unrest and charismatic personalities lay a deeper force: a renewed theology of preaching.

The Result Was Revival explores how a fresh understanding of homiletics--rooted in Scripture, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and aimed at the transformation of the heart--shaped the extraordinary effectiveness of preaching in the American colonies. By examining the theological convictions that guided three key preachers of the era, this work argues that revival did not arise from novelty or emotionalism, but from faithful proclamation aligned with God's redemptive purposes.

Written for pastors, theologians, students of church history, and church members who desire awakening in their own day, this book challenges contemporary readers to reconsider the relationship between homiletical theology, preaching, and spiritual awakening. If revival is ultimately God's work, how does faithful preaching prepare the soil?

This study invites readers to look backward--not for methods to imitate, but for theological convictions worth recovering.
