Author Rosanna Brown was 22 weeks pregnant with her son William when she had to terminate her pregnancy for medical reasons (TFMR). She shares her story, weaving it together with case studies from other parents and advice from healthcare experts--including guidance for those who carry to term following a diagnosis. The book explores the many facets of this experience:
- Diagnosis: 12- and 20-week scans, plus later diagnoses
- The end of your baby's life: the medical process and saying goodbye
- The emotional and physical aftermath: bodily changes, coping with trauma, returning to work, and receiving the postmortem
- Grieving together: your relationship with your partner, parenting other children, finding community, navigating subsequent pregnancies, and moving forward with happiness and fulfillment
With advice for parents, medical professionals, friends, family, and employers, The Silence of TFMR is a comprehensive guide to breaking the silence of TFMR--and rediscovering hope.
